One of the big value adds of Seedcamp is the relationships with Corporate mentors that begin during the Mini Seedcamp events, continue over Seedcamp Week, and progress through the 3 months of mentorship support, which includes the 2-week US roadshow that just culminated. Since our recent visit in the Valley in March to the Facebook office, we have been working closely to find ways to let the Seedcamp companies have more and easier access to the Facebook platform. Until now, this support came mainly through mentoring at the Seedcamp events all over Europe, email contacts, and through our direct visits at Facebook HQ.

We are thrilled to announce a deeper and stronger new partnership with Facebook that will help many of our companies to move forward a lot faster: Seedcamp startups will receive product, technical, and design support as well as early access to beta products and programs on Facebook Platform. Since many of our portfolio companies use parts of Facebook’s offerings in their setup, talking to the folks working on these products directly will be a massive help. In addition, an early look at what is coming up will enable Seedcamp companies to be ahead of the market and to play with cool new features first.

Finally, our startups will also receive additional support as Facebook becomes a Platinum Seedcamp Founder Sponsor. The partnership with Facebook sets a great example for how we want to work with more of our US and European corporate mentors.

Facebook is clearly becoming ever more important to startups, be it in the way services are distributed, members are found, or information is shared. We are looking forward to see how our companies are integrating Facebook into their services, and how they can make the best of this partnership!

Also – If you are a startup in Germany or the rest of Europe – apply to Seedcamp Berlin until Sunday to get a chance to benefit from this amazing collaboration.

Barcelona has been a long-standing city of arts, culture and commerce and has seen the likes of Gaudi, Dali and Picasso grace it’s streets. In recent years, Spain’s entrepreneurial network has been growing and bringing us great entrepreneurs such as Martin Varsavsky and startups like Madpixel, tooio.net, visual-engin.com and Tuenti. We know there is a wealth of talent throughout Spain and the surrounding region, who can’t wait to make their mark on not just a European, but Global stage. With that in mind, we are very excited to announce that applications are now open for Mini Seedcamp Barcelona, which will take place on 23rd March 2010 at the wonderful premises of IESE Business School.

Of course we always have an open door policy so any team from anywhere can apply.

Good Luck!

Like many startups, Seedcamp started out with a big idea: to help to lay a long-term foundation for first-time European entrepreneurs to get access to the knowledge, network, validation and access to capital they would need to build a big business.

But in truth, we had very little idea of exactly how Seedcamp was going to play out and we’ve evolved substantially over the years.

In 2010 alone, Reshma and her lean, mean fighting machine have:

And we still have Mini Seedcamp events in Singapore and Mumbai to come in 2010.

Reshma has done an amazing job building a truly international network of entrepreneurs, mentors and investors. In a little over three years, she’s taken a concept and turned Seedcamp into a living breathing organization. Since 2007, we have:

I’m really proud of what Reshma, Alasdair and Steph have achieved but we want to do more with our network – more teams mentored, more locations visited and investments made.

Looking forward to working with the winners of Seedcamp 2010 and beyond, its time for Reshma to get some serious firepower and support to take Seedcamp to the next level, keep pushing the envelope and continue to improve the experience we can offer our network.

So I’m thrilled to be introducing two new stars in the Seedcamp team – Carlos Espinal and Philipp Moehring.

If you’re one of the 400 or 500 people who have been part of Seedcamp Week, you will have met, had an email from or come into contact with our Associate Philipp. He’s only been with us since June but has hit the ground running – providing the glue holding our operations together and moonlighting with some great video commentary. He will work with all of our companies on the portfolio management side to provide the value Seedcamp brings.

Carlos will be joining us from Doughty Hanson. He will be a Partner to work alongside Reshma, helping her to develop the organization, deepen our international network and offer the best possible support and development to Seedcamp entrepreneurs.

Carlos is a great blend of serious engineer and talented early-stage investor – he’s also not a bad cyclist. He will be a great compliment to Reshma and help us expand not just our capacity but also our horizons and language skills.

There is nothing more exciting in an organization than seeing it grow – having seen what Reshma was able to achieve flying solo, I can’t wait to see what her partnership with Carlos will deliver. You can find Carlos on Twitter and his full bio.

Please help me welcome Phil and Carlos to the team – and feel free to reach out and say hello.

This time last year, we held the first Seedsummit in London. The idea behind it was to help to create a forum for active European seed investors to connect and establish a stronger more cohesive network to support entrepreneurs. Now 12 months later – we are ready to take the wrappers off Seedsummit.org.

Recently, Seedcamp has been sharing lots of news about growing our team and adding firepower for our international platform. We have a stronger foundation to help the companies and founders that are at the stage where Seedcamp is a good fit. We have always helped Seedcamp companies gain access to further capital and so many other entrepreneurs have always reached out to us frustrated at how difficult it is to identify true seed stage investors in their local regions and across Europe or US with whom there is a fit.

Enter Seedsummit.org. Like Nivi and Naval’s excellent AngelList, we aim to be a resource to connect entrepreneurs and local seed investors looking to find each other. The investors on Seedsummit.org are qualified, active in seed and they are looking for deals. While we don’t have the density of either the VC or angel money available in the Valley, there is still an emerging group of very active seed investors in the markets that Seedcamp is local in, from Union Square to Mumbai.

Given many Seedcamp companies raise their post-Seedcamp funding from these very investors like Jeremie Berrebi, Sherry Coutu, Alex Hoye, Stefan Glaenzer, Dave McClure and Robin Klein, we have gotten to know our fellow travelers well. Seedsummit.org is a first step. As with Seedcamp, we will look to all of you to help us iterate and make sure we can serve entrepreneurs and investors best in their quest to find the right partners. So, please do have a look and play around and feed back to us as much as possible.

There is a dedicated space for both investors and entrepreneurs on the site. We will be adding more useful features and content soon, along with connecting with our friends in other places putting together a similar platform. But we hope this is a very helpful start for all of you to get better connected and funded.

In addition, we will host two full Seedsummit events for active angel and seed investors this year. The first will be taking place in January, right after our just announced Seedcamp London. Following our first North American Event in June, we will host a Seedsummit in New York City aiming to connect Seed investors across the Atlantic. We are looking forward to a great 2011, and Seedsummit.org will be a large part of it!

We also want to point out our technology partner Lateral, who helped us out with the development and review of the site. Ciprian and his team are an important part of the inception of Seedsummit, we are looking forward to working together on the future changes to the site to develop an even greater experience for both investors and start-ups.

If you answered most of the Questions positively – wait no further…

I’m Jakob Marovt (@jmarovt). Joined Seedcamp as an intern last autumn and have loved every single minute of it. Why?

Seedcamp operates as a normal startup Your hands and decision are free – if you have a good idea, you can implement it and get it going (ranging from new types of events to some specific in-house work-flow optimizations).

At Seedcamp you work within an A-class team From my own experience they are amazingly dedicated knowledgeable people who know what are they are doing and what they are aiming to be: the very best place to jumpstart the entrepreneurial community in Europe and beyond. Yes, they are aiming super high, but you want that, don’t you?

At Seedcamp and it’s associated events you get to meet inspiring, positively oriented people aiming to change the world for a better place. Ranging from entrepreneurs, best-of-class engineers, lawyers and all the way to the top-tier investors. Believe me – it’s a very special, invigorating feeling being in a room packed full with entrepreneurial spirit. I am sure everyone aiming to make a difference in the start-up community would love to be a part of it.
At Seedcamp you see new companies coming on board and join the Seedcamp family. A random SC story: I first got familiar with two guys when they wrote their first application and applied to one of the events; me and the rest of the team quickly saw something in them and their private beta. They amazed everyone at the event and subsequently joined the Seedcamp family as new Winners. Fast forward 3 months and the same two guys everyone first met 3 months ago are now fully based in London, hiring new people in their first real office and raising a proper institutional round. This is what we all aim and aspire to – as an Intern at Seedcamp I got to meet, befriend, and learn from this kind of people and hopefully helped them in a small part to build the mosaic together.

Seedcamp is the perfect springboard into the start-up community In the end, many fruitful relationships arose from my Seedcamp experience and I am sure it will prove life-changing for me in the end run. For starters, I’m joining one of the Seedcamp portfolio companies next month.

Seriously, it can’t get more exciting!

— If you would like to see what the Seedcamp crew thinks and writes about on a daily basis, then this blog and Twitter are your best friends: follow our great partners Reshma (@rsohoni) and Carlos (@ceduardo), awesome associate Philipp (@pmoehring) and the newest addition, general manager Kirsten (@k1rstc).

It’s already a dream team – make it an extra special one by applying for the Intern position now!

P.s.: I’m more than happy to answer all your questions regarding Seedcamp and the Intern position – feel free to give me a call: vox.io/jmarovt
