Joe Tyndall
Finance Principal
About me
I work across finance, both for our core and early-growth funds. My role covers everything from investor reporting, modelling how we deploy capital, valuing companies, fundraising, and creating much of our external data for events and our investors. One of the perks of my role is getting a bird’s-eye view of Seedcamp’s broad portfolio, which brings a playground of data and insights to work with.
In recent years, I’ve taken a lead on managing our portfolio exits and secondaries – maintaining Seedcamp’s approach to prioritising timely investor returns. I’ve loved working through a whole host of exit scenarios to help founders and investors, as it brings the strategic, creative, and analytical sides of finance together.
Before Seedcamp, I qualified as a chartered accountant with EY where I worked for 3 years, learning many things including the difference between DPI and KSI. Prior to EY, I studied Economics & Finance at Edinburgh Uni.
I enjoy working with data, and have always loved statistics particularly focused on sport and behavioural economics. Beyond work, I’m overly competitive on a tennis and more recently padel court, love playing card games, and following just about any sport.
From Day One
I enjoy understanding the complete set of different businesses and technologies we invest in. My role involves tracking how they grow once we partner with them. This helps form our decisions on how we invest our follow-on and growth capital, and when we look to exit. I also make a tasty cap table and provide founders with benchmark data for their next rounds on request.
