There’s a lot of celebration taking place at Seedcamp this week. Two of our companies have been acquired in just seven days!
Congratulations go to Stupeflix, acquired by GoPro last week, and Holvi, which was acquired by Spanish banking giant, BBVA, yesterday.
Stupeflix joined the Seedcamp portfolio back in 2008, when we had been running for just one year. When we first invested, Stupeflix was a startup that offered video tools to app developers. The team, based in Paris and San Francisco, launched the Replay App in 2013 to enable users to select video clips and combine them into a single film complete with transitions and music.
The company has been acquired by GoPro, alongside video editing startup Vemory, in a $105M deal.
Seedcamp Partner, Carlos Espinal, commented, “The Stupeflix team wowed us with how easy it made the video editing process through the Replay app. Previously, video editing of the quality that the app produced was only accessible to video professionals. By using the smartphone camera, and other sources of video imported into the smartphone, Replay was able to quickly help users compose, edit, and add visual and audio elements. We’re very excited to see what they will accomplish as part of the GoPro family.”

Seedcamp invested in Finnish financial technology startup Holvi in 2011. The team built a bank designed for entrepreneurs, freelancers and small businesses, capitalizing on huge regulatory changes that were years ahead of anyone else. The online-only bank has been acquired by Spanish banking giant BBVA for an undisclosed amount.
Carlos Espinal said, “When we first met Holvi, we were attracted by the Founding teams drive to fix the challenges that small organizations have when managing money and accounting for expenses across various different employees. Since then, Holvi has scaled the idea into a bank designed for small businesses and uniquely tailored its proposition to meet their needs. Our congrats go to the team following the acquisition from BBVA.”
With the two recent acquisitions, 14 Seedcamp companies have successfully exited.
