Argil raises €4.9 million to empower everyone to become a creator using their own AI video clone

29.11.2024

Demand for high-quality video content across the Internet has exploded in recent years. From educational content to entertainment and e-commerce, video is becoming the medium of choice for both creators and consumers – even more so, with the emergence of Generative AI and synthetic media.

We are excited to partner with Argil, the video engine for the creator economy. Built by creators for creators, Argil aims to meet the exploding demand for video marketing while addressing the challenge of costly and resource-intensive video creation processes.

Founded by Laodis Menard and Brivael Le Pogam, the platform empowers any business, educator, or creator to leverage AI to generate engaging, ready-to-post videos at a fraction of the cost of traditional video production. Its solution incorporates proprietary, generative AI-enabled technology to create life-like avatars which, once trained, can be used to generate video in a matter of minutes.

Creators can virtually clone themselves, creating real-life multilingual AI avatars from videos uploaded to the platform. The content is hyper-realistic, generated for a low subscription fee (starting at $1/ minute of video), and postable in a matter of minutes rather than weeks.

The platform includes an AI-enabled pre-editing feature, the ability to build avatars that can speak any language, and access to a library of other virtual avatars. Furthermore, creators can use templates to easily convert any existing text-based and audio content, such as articles or podcasts, into engaging video content featuring their avatar.

Argil offers a fun, interactive process with a user-friendly interface for creators including B-roll, captions, AI images, and translations, enabling users to leverage their body language and expressions resulting in warmer, more personalized, and relatable content.

Laodis Menard, CEO and Co-Founder, comments:

“I produced a lot of video content after leading product marketing at a French unicorn. I loved it, but found creating videos was becoming increasingly costly and time intensive. I was also lucky to be confident in front of the camera, a luxury not everyone has. At Argil, we want to democratize the production process to allow anyone to create engaging videos with realistic avatars that bring their original vision to life; AI allows us to do this quickly and cheaply. Demand for video content will continue to grow, and we need novel technology such as AI to fulfill this demand. We’ll make creating an engaging video as easy as writing a tweet.”

Argil’s client base includes YouTubers with millions of followers and the estates of stars like Audrey Hepburn, which are leveraging its technology to revive late celebrities and create content for a whole new generation of fans.

On why we partnered with Argil from Day One, our Partner Sia Houchangnia and our Venture Partner Devin Hunt comment:

“We are thrilled to team up with Argil. Laodis and Brivael have an unmatched understanding of creators’ needs, and their resourcefulness and ability to execute at lightning speed while delivering world-class consumer experiences sets them apart. They are truly exceptional founders redefining what’s possible for the creator economy with AI.”

We are excited to support Argil from Day One, having led their €1 million Pre-Seed round in 2023 alongside Axeleo. Argil’s rapid growth is fueled by a new €3.9 million seed round led by EQT Ventures, with participation from renowned YouTuber Kwebblekop, who has over 15 million subscribers and uses Argil to grow his own Youtube channel, and Charles Gorintin, Cofounder & CTO of Alan, cofounding advisor of Mistral AI.
