Nokia joins Seedcamp as an annual sponsor
We are proud to announce that Nokia has joined us as an annual sponsor, supporting us in running our operations and events all across Europe.
We have worked with the team at Nokia for several years, and have always received great support from the organisation – both as mentors and business partners for our companies. We are now working together more formally, with closer ties to the Nokia developer experience team, and support for both incoming startups and the companies already in the Seedcamp Family. Already today, multiple Seedcamp companies are working on the platforms Nokia provides. Also, several Seedcamp companies provide services to various Nokia divisions, which is a great testament to their ability and openness to work with startups.
In the past weeks, several Nokia representatives were part of our Mini Seedcamps in Tel Aviv, Kiev, Istanbul, Barcelona, and of course at Seedcamp Week in Berlin. Teams have already built ties and access into Nokia. In the next few months, we’ll increase the engagement through our learning days and with visits at Seedcamp HQ, and various developer related activities for mobile related startups.
At Seedcamp, we work with the best international organisations as partners, and always aim to make the relationship work to the benefit of our startups. This is why we carefully select the sponsors that get access to our teams, and help facilitate two way connections in which startups get early access to technology, devices, and the people in the partner organisations to build better products faster.
Here’s what Yannick Debaupte, Nokia’s head of developer experience for Europe has to say about our partnership:
Today, mobile application developers are not merely developing code, but driving the apps economy, becoming successful creators, marketers and entrepreneurs. Like every entrepreneur, they are looking to succeed and Seedcamp is a great program to help them pave the way to success. Over the past few years, Nokia staff have participated as mentors at various Seedcamp events and were unanimously impressed by the caliber of the participants and their projects. As a Seedcamp sponsor, we look forward to working even more closely with the startup and developer communities across Europe to foster mobile innovation and entrepreneurship.
We look forward to work and build an even stronger relationship with Nokia over the coming year.
Hilary Szymujko joining as Investment Manager
Hilary has been an instrumental part of the Seedcamp team since October 2012 as an intern. She has been invaluable as part of our legal process, where she closely worked with Carlos and the incoming teams on documentation, processes, and onboarding. She was also closely involved in the creation of the 2.0 version of our Seedsummit legal documents. We are now very happy to announce she has joined us full time as an Investment Manager. She will continue to work on both these fronts and be increasingly engaged in the organization of our Seedcamp Academy program with Philipp, and support him on the portfolio relations side.
Hilary joined Seedcamp by way of the legal sector where she was Chief Operating Officer of the general practice, multi-jurisdictional law firm, McAllister Olivarius. During her five year tenure, Hilary led the firm through a period of high growth, creating and managing cross-functional systems and centralising the operation of diverse branches of the firm including legal, regulatory and financial compliance; marketing and business development; and information technology.
Originally from the US, Hilary came to London after she received her BA from Yale University.
Seedcamp Week London, September 2013
Seedcamp Week London will be taking place from the 2nd September – 5th September. This will be a four day event aimed at connecting the 20 best web-tech, mobile and software talent with some of the leading entrepreneurs, developers, experts and investors from all across Europe and all over the world. We are looking forward to this highlight of our year and are already seeing some great applications from teams all across Europe.
If you are not familiar with the Seedcamp events or would like to know more about the process, please check reports from previous events, about & investment terms, and our FAQs pages.
As every year, we are building a schedule of exciting speakers and master class sessions. Besides the content being presented throughout the week, teams will also have the opportunity to mix and mingle with investors, entrepreneurs, and operators during the evening events, and experience the best of what Seedcamp has to offer. New teams will join the Seedcamp family right after Seedcamp Week, move into Campus, be part of our year-round program, and have the opportunity to join us for our US trip in October or the Spring.
