Financial services firms hire some of the brightest graduates in the world — then they hand them years of soul-crushing work.
It’s long been a rite of passage for junior auditors to spend their days on monotonous tasks like reconciling invoices, trawling through datarooms and writing endless, repetitive credit memos.
As Gen Z workers grow increasingly unwilling to trade their twenties for punishing hours, this is clearly unsustainable — especially now that AI, having historically lagged on accuracy when it comes to financial figures, is finally growing reliable enough to take the work on.
This is why we’re thrilled to be taking part in Opio’s €4 million first round, alongside Frst and GFC.
Opio is building technology that automatically collects, verifies, and organises a company’s financial data, removing a process that normally takes weeks and is still mostly done by hand. It’s already freeing up 27% of transaction services professionals’ time.
Opio was founded by Tristan Fulchiron and Olivier Chancé, both engineers by training. Fulchiron spent a decade in public service before this, leading digital modernisation projects for France’s Ministry of Defence and Interior Ministry.
“Lawyers, consultants and developers have all been through their own AI revolution – it’s now time for auditors carrying out financial due diligence to have theirs,” said Tristan Fulchiron, co-founder of Opio.

“Financial due diligence is a natural fit for AI, but only if every output is accurate and auditable. Opio has built for that reality from day one, giving transaction services teams reconciled, source-linked analysis they can trust. Tristan and Olivier are exceptional founders who have assembled an outstanding early team around them, and their traction with some of the industry’s leading firms speaks for itself,” says Sia Houchangnia, partner at Seedcamp.

The traction Opio has had so far has been remarkable. Forvis Mazars Group and BDO, two of the sector’s major players, are already customers, alongside several other firms.
Opio’s angel investors include Arthur Waller, co-founder and CEO of Pennylane, and Stanislas Polu, co-founder of Dust, alongside former staff of HSBC, Deutsche Bank and KKR investing in a personal capacity.
Opio already operates in 15 countries, each with its own accounting standards, which is no small feat for a 10-person team. The new funding will fuel further expansion into the UK, Germany and Spain, laying the groundwork for a future push into the US.
