The Seedcamp Team hit the road again!

If you’re attending Web Summit this week, make sure you say hi.

Keep a close eye on the schedule, as Seedcamp partners Carlos Eduardo Espinal and Reshma Sohoni, joined by investment team members Tom Wilson and Sia Houchangnia and our head of marketing and communications, Natasha Lytton have a series of Panels, Roundtables, Judging slots and Office Hours lined up, so all good opportunities to hear more from us.

As the tech world flocks to Lisbon for Web Summit this week, we’re also delighted to announce the launch of Seedsummit Portugal, an initiative providing simplified financial documents and guidelines to support the Portuguese startup ecosystem and positively impact local founders. We’ve partnered with Team Genesis® and Lisbon-based accelerator Beta-i on the initiative, with both sharing our confidence in Portugal as one of Europe’s emerging tech hubs.

In the meantime, if you’re a startup thinking of applying to our next round of pre-seed investment round, make a note that Seedcamp applications are currently open until 13th November. So grab this chance to meet our investment team in person and grill them with your questions before the deadline.

We can’t wait to meet you!

The Seedcamp Team

Seedcamp believes that the time is now for the application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to fuel new innovation, empower a new breed of startup and disrupt industries. That’s why we’ve already made several investments in the space including re:infer, ThirdEye and AI Build. Now we’re looking for more companies to back.

If you’re a founder, operator or investor working with deep learning, neural networks, NLP, computer vision and other related themes then this event is for you. Together with our friends at Northzone, one of Europe’s leading VCs, we’ll be gathering several thought leaders in the space to discuss the rapidly increasing appetite for investment in the sector, as well as hearing from companies operating in it.

We’re inviting startups to present on stage, get feedback and hopefully take their business closer towards a first round of funding. It’s a great opportunity to get in front of investors and experts in the AI space, so please come along

At Seedcamp we get excited by great founders with a big vision. Inherently we’ve always been sector agnostic and that certainly isn’t changing, however there are certain industries that really excite us, one of these is OpenData. We’re keen to deep dive into this space, hear from some exceptional players and discover startups that operate in it.

In order for us to do this we’re partnering with the pioneering Open Data Institute, an established leader supporting startups in this field. Open Data Institute helps unlock supply, generates demand, creates and disseminates knowledge to address local and global issues.

Format

Together with Open Data Institute we’ll be hosting an event on Thursday 19th November at Campus London.

We’ll select up to 10 startups to present to a panel made up of investors and sector experts. We’re looking for inspirational startups to join the Seedcamp family who are building multi billion businesses around OpenData.

More on Open Data

Open Data is comparable to Open Source in terms of its potential for disruptive innovation. These days businesses are looking to understand how they can best make use of the data they produce and the data that is all around them to drive revenue and create new business opportunities. The ‘Open Data’ movement challenges businesses to think about data in a different way: open by default. Open Data has already become an important part of how governments and organisations operate and engage with the private sector.  Through the Open Data Institute startup programme and the Open Data Incubator for Europe, the Open Data Institute are supporting the development of startups in the UK and across Europe. By partnering up with them, we are looking to encourage startups to start thinking about how the use and creation of open data can be at the heart of their business. Here you’ll find a good description of Open Data to see if you’re operating in the right space to apply.
