Seedcamp & Nextlaw Labs present the future of Legal Tech

The legal sector is primed for forward-thinking startups to come in and shake up the space and become the next generation of market defining companies.

That is why we’re very excited to announce that Seedcamp, the first round fund for ambitious founders, is partenering up with Nextlaw Labs, the innovative legal tech venture development platform launched by global law firm Dentons, to co-sponsor a global callout to early stage legal tech startups. We’re looking to find startups using new technologies and processes to transform the legal sector around the world.

You’re invited to join us for a discussion on the future of Legal Tech with leading experts, entrepreneurs and founders. We’ll be using this opportunity to also answer any questions you might have on the application process. (deadline 17th July)

Nicholas d’Adhemar, the founder and CEO of Apperio, spent 6 years working as a lawyer and 3 years client-side in private equity. He experienced deals firsthand, which completed but were then followed by months of disputes over fees and invoices. He found that regularly sharing fee information between law firms and their clients significantly improved working relationships. The fewer the surprises, the happier the client. From this simple idea, Apperio was born. Apperio enables you to track your legal spend at an overall or matter level, in real time. With simple, intuitive interface, you instantly gain meaningful insight into your legal spend.

Jimmy Vestbirk, Founder Legal Geek, organises #LawTech events to discuss legal industry and technology disruption in San Francisco and London; the events focus on discussion, networking interaction and round table discussions. Jimmy is a Tech London Advocate to support technology start-ups in finding new investment, new talent and achieving high growth to promote London as a Law Tech Hub. His core business for the past 8 years has been Online Dating, Search Engine Marketing and B2B Consultancy. He also has investments in Storage and Holiday Lets in UK.

Richard Mabey, CEO of Jurotrained as a Corporate lawyer with Freshfields before an INSEAD MBA and a stint in Product at LegalZoom. Richard spends an unnatural amount of time thinking about legal contracts. The main outlet for this is Juro, a Seedcamp-backed startup that offers a contracts workflow underpinned by blockchain. Juro saves businesses time and money on legal contracts by automating repeat processes (creation, signing, storage), while offering a quick, robust and delightful way to agree terms with your valued stakeholders. Richard speaks regularly on LegalTech.

Daniel van Binsbergen is the CEO and co-founder of www.Lexoo.co.uk – an online legal marketplace connecting businesses to specialised prescreened lawyers. Lexoo is backed by Forward Partners, an early stage VC firm based in Hoxton. Prior to founding Lexoo, Daniel worked for over 5 years as a finance and M&A lawyer at an international law firm (De Brauw), first in Amsterdam, then in London. He’s always up for a game of squash, and is easily excited.

Free ticket here.

The event will be held at Campus London. While this is aimed at startup founders, please feel free to bring other members of your team along.
